faqs

your questions, answered.

Do I need to be a member to have sessions with a personal trainer?+
Yes, in order to work with one of our PTs, you'll need to be subscribed to one of our monthly memberships (access, class-pass, or bundle).
Do I need to be a member to join group classes?+
No, however it does work out cheaper if you are coming to more than one group class a week.
What type of gym is Horizen?+
Horizen is a Boutique Fitness Studio, that offers short-term flexible gym access memberships (great for the nomads) and small group strength training classes. There are also longer term memberships available if you prefer commitment.
What kind of equipment is there at Horizen?+
We have a mixture of 'functional' and lifestyle training equipment, to fulfill the needs of all training modalities.
How do I sign up for the gym?+
Signing up is now simpler than ever with our new system, GymMaster. Head to our website to get started, then download the GymMaster Member app. From there, you can create your profile, choose your membership (Classes, Open Gym, or both), and book your first session. Need help? Our front desk team is ready to assist you every step of the way.
What are your hours of operation?+
We're open Monday to Friday from 5:30am–9:00pm, and Saturday & Sunday from 8:00am–5:00pm. Members with General Access, a Holiday Pass, or a Bundle Membership can train during all operating hours.
Do you offer day passes or trial classes?+
We offer single class drop ins and day passes for open gym.
What types of classes do you offer?+
We're a strength-focused studio offering a range of classes including strength training, conditioning, mobility, and functional fitness. We also run specialty programs like RunStrong — designed to help runners build a strong foundation.
How many people are in a typical class?+
Our classes are intentionally kept small, with 8–12 people max. This allows our coaches to give you the individual attention you need.
Do I need to reserve a spot in class?+
Yes — we recommend booking in advance through the GymMaster (Sea Point, Gardens) app to secure your spot, as spaces are limited.
